Stanley J. Seeger '52 Center for Hellenic Studies

Carol collaborates with the director of the Seeger Center and the chair of the Committee for the Study of Late Antiquity to maintain policy and execute strategic direction for the Center’s operation, including financial and academic management and staff supervision. Year after year, new initiatives have kept her motivated and challenged, including her recent trip to Greece for the opening of the Princeton University Athens Center for Research and Hellenic Studies—one of her “most rewarding experiences.” Carol finds it especially fulfilling when students submit annual reports about their international travel for study and research abroad funded through the Center.

“Their personal stories about their experiences and how they have enriched their lives is always a reminder to me that our work here is worthwhile and plays a part in affecting lives in very positive and long-lasting ways.”

Mohamed Ela Director of Procurement Services,
Office of Finance and Treasury

In his role, Mohamed ensures that students, faculty, and staff have an efficient and effective means of buying and paying for goods and services, reimbursing guests, and supporting the University’s travel needs. He takes pride in knowing that the work his team does every day helps to advance the University’s academic and research mission. Whether seeking to fund academic study in remote areas of the world, partnering with a diverse network of contracted suppliers, or helping a faculty member negotiate an agreement for a critical piece of research equipment, he feels there is always a connection to the mission.

“Though I work in an administrative function, I have a tremendous sense of pride in being part of an organization focused on serving humanity. To be able to contribute, in any capacity, to such a noble aspiration is a rewarding experience.”

Michael Morris Research Facilities Manager,
Department of Geosciences

Mike describes the opportunities at Princeton as “endless.” He started his journey at the Plasma Physics Laboratory as a warehouse material handler before transferring to the main campus Facilities Department as a maintenance technician. While there, Mike had the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship and to become a certified industrial maintenance mechanic, which led to his promotion to senior maintenance mechanic. He continued his journey as a Facilities building maintenance supervisor for more than 20 years. Now, Mike is a research facilities manager in the Department of Geosciences where he works closely with students and faculty.

“I can remember my interview when the hiring manager asked me, ‘Why do you want to work at Princeton?’ I answered, ‘The prestige of working at a world-renowned institution.’ For me, that still holds true 33 years later.”
